Lady Cats Overcome Bethel Wildcats

Lady BobcatsThe Lady Bobcat basketball team hosted NAIA DI No. 4 ranked Bethel University in the First Community Bank of the Ozarks Classic on Friday evening, and the Lady Cats came away with the upset win, 75-66.


After trailing at half-time 42-35, the Bobcats came back in the 3rd and 4th quarters to score 40 points and hand Bethel their second loss of the season. 


Leading the Lady Bobcats was Brandy Uchtman with 18 points, followed by Lakin Simmerman (13 pts) and Hannah Wisdom (11 pts).  Freshman Kelsie Cleeton proved instrumental in the win, as she hit two critical three pointers and gathered a team-leading 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals for the Cats.


Bethel had four players score in double figures thanks to a 45% shooting percentage in the first half, but the Wildcats cooled off in the second half, shooting only 25%.  


Friday night’s win takes the Lady Cats season record to 5-1.


The Bethel Wildcats will take on John Brown University on Saturday at 1 PM, and the Lady Cats will play Friends University  at 3 PM.
