The #20 College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats came up a few points short, 73-76, in their conference match up against #16 Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady ‘Cats trailed 34-40 at the half, but sophomore guard Hannah Wisdom came up big for the ‘Cats in the second half, spurring on her team by scoring 18 of her 22 total points. Although struggling from 3-point territory, senior guard Kayla Kepler contributed 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists on the day. In addition, sophomore forward Maggie McMenamy provided 10 points and joined freshman guard Shelby Roberts in pulling down 6 rebounds apiece.
While stats were fairly even across categories such as field goal percentage and turnovers, OKWU out-rebounded the Lady ‘Cats 52-43 and picked up six additional points at the free-throw line.
The loss brings the Lady Bobcats’ overall record to 10-6, 1-1 MCAC; OKWU moves to 16-2 on the season, 2-0 in conference play. The Lady Bobcats will return to their home court this Tuesday, as they take on Central Baptist College at 5:30 PM.
