The College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats cruised to a win Thursday afternoon over St. Gregory’s University by a score of 81-68. The Lady Cats’ win boosted their season record to 12-2, while NAIA DI St. Gregory’s (Okla.) dipped to 4-7.
College of the Ozarks took the lead on their first possession of the game with a two-pointer from sophomore center Lakin Simmerman, and they never looked back. Early in the third quarter, the Lady Cats stretched their lead to as many as 25 points. Head coach Becky Vest was able to play her entire bench, who provided 30 points throughout the course of the game.
Simmerman (pictured) led the Lady Cats in scoring (22 pts) and rebounds (11), collecting her first double-double of the season. Also contributing with double-digit scoring were junior guard Hannah Wisdom (14 pts, 6 reb) and sophomore center Maison Bovard (12 pts).
St. Gregory’s was led by Kylee Tatum with 16 points, while four additional Cavaliers scored in double figures. Ashleigh Sparks was a bright spot for St. Gregory’s, collecting 14 points, 4 assists, and 5 steals.
The Lady Bobcats will take the court at home once again this Saturday, January 2, at 3 PM when they tip off against another Division I opponent, Mid-American Christian University from Oklahoma City, Okla.
