College of the Ozarks women completed their weekend trip in Iowa with a victory over Waldorf College, 94-72, Saturday afternoon in Forest City. It was the final regular season game for the Lady Bobcats, who finished 25-3 and undefeated in A.I.I. play.
CofO jumped out to a hot start, scoring 33 points in the first quarter in route to shooting 60% in the first half behind ten points from Brandy Uchtman and Lakin Simmerman. The Lady Cats had 17 assists on 24 made shots and went into the locker room with a 54-32 advantage. Waldorf shot 33% from the field in the first half.
Waldorf heated up in the second half offensively, while CofO cooled a bit, playing the Lady Bobcats even in the final two quarters. CofO shot 52% for the game to the Lady Warriors 42%. The Lady Cats had just eight turnovers and forced thirteen, also passed for an outstanding 28 assists on 39 made baskets. CofO led the rebounding column 40-32.
Senior Brandy Uchtman scored a team high 19 points on 9-15 shooting; she also led with 8 rebounds. Lakin Simmerman continued with her strong play, finishing with 18 points on 8-10 shooting. Simmerman gathered in seven rebounds and led CofO with five assists. Cass Johnson finished with 11 points, going 3-6 from behind the arc. Madi Brethower chipped in 10 points to round out the double figure scorers. All Lady Bobcats played and scored.
The Lady Bobcats will play Friday morning at 10:15 vs Washington Adventist in the first round of the A.I.I. Independent Conference Tournament. The three top finishing teams will receive automatic bids to the NAIA National Tournament.
