The Lady Bobcats closed out their 2015-2016 season in Sioux City, Iowa late Friday night, as they fell to Mount Marty College (S.D.) by a score of 74-67.
The Lady Cats were slow to score in the first half, picking up only 13 points to the Lancers' 28 points in the first quarter. But the Cats were not to be thwarted, as they came roaring back in the second quarter to hold Mount Marty to only 9 points, while they tallied 25. During a 21-2 run, senior Brandy Uchtman picked up 7 points and freshman Kelsie Cleeton six, to give the Lady Bobcats a one-point lead as they headed into the locker room at the half.
The Lancers rallied in the third, outscoring the Bobcats 18-11, and edged the Cats 19-18 in the final quarter to close out the game with a 7-point advantage.
Both teams shot just under 40% from the field, but the Lancers held the advantage in rebounds (44 to 35) and steals (9 to 6). Mount Marty also posted 16 fouls the the Lady Cats' 25.
Leading the Lady Bobcats in scoring was junior guard Hannah Wisdom with 17, followed by senior Brandy Uchtman with 15, and freshmen Cleeton and Cass Johnson with 11 apiece. Uchtman also gathered 10 rebounds to complete the night with a double-double.
The Lady Cats finished their 2015-16 season with an impressive record of 28-5. While disappointed they did not move forward in the tournament, the Cats should be excited about their future, returning all players but Uchtman next season.
Congratulations go out to Brandy Uchtman as she closes out her career as a Lady Bobcat, boasting over 1,400 career points and just under 700 rebounds, while serving as an exceptional leader for the team.
