The NAIA DII No. 19 ranked College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats hosted the No. 14 ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan Lady Eagles Saturday afternoon in the last regular-season game of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference. Heading into the game, the Lady ‘Cats and Lady Eagles were tied atop the MCAC with 11-2 records, and the Bobcats pulled off a 2-point victory, 72-70.
The first half was tight, but a 3-pointer in the last minute of the half by Brandy Uchtman took the Lady Cats to the locker room with a 6 point lead, 41-35. The second half found the Lady Eagles outscoring Ozarks by a 4-point margin, but the Bobcats held on to take the win by 2.
Leading the Lady Bobcats were Hannah Wisdom and Lakin Simmerman with 14 points apiece, followed closely by Shelby Roberts with 12 and Kayla Kepler with 10. Tanner Merriman led the ‘Cats rebounding with 6. Also of note in the game, senior Kayla Kepler set the Lady Bobcats all-time career record for assists (448).
Taking charge for the Lady Eagles was Susan Agesen with 17 points, while Patience Gitau posted 9 rebounds.
The win by Ozarks earned them the conference championship and the opportunity to host the south division conference tournament next weekend.
