Lady Bobcat Kayla Kepler, senior guard from Fair Grove, has been named to the 2014-15 NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball All-American First Team. Kepler finished the 2014-15 season leading the Lady Bobcats in points (15.67/game), rebounds (6.03/game) and steals (1.52/game). During the 14-15 season Kepler scored the 1,500th point of her career (closing out her career with 1,548), and her 108 season assists captured the Lady Cats' title as Career Assist leader with 469.
Kepler has played for the Lady Bobcats all four seasons. She played a valuable role as a back point guard during her freshman season in which the Lady Cats played for a National Championship. Since then, Kayla has been a three year starter, an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection her sophomore season and First Team All-Conference last season. She has received the NAIA National Tournament Hustle Award and is also an Academic All-American.
Coach Vest commented, “Kepler will go down as one of the most decorated guards in program history. In addition to becoming the career assist leader, she is in the top ten in rebounds (#5), career three-point shots made (#5), career free throws made (#5), and scoring (#8). Kepler’s competitive nature and will to win have been the defining components of her career. Her leadership as a senior has been outstanding, as she has embraced the responsibility of passing the torch of Ozarks’ legacy to her younger teammates.”
