The College of the Ozarks women’s basketball team upped their season record to 8-1 on Friday evening, as the #7 NAIA DII Lady Bobcats defeated the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) Drovers by a score of 93-75 in the College of the Ozarks Coke Classic.
The Lady Cats started out the night scoring 27 points in the first quarter and 20 in the second to take a 47-32 lead to the locker room at the half. Cass Johnson tallied 13 points in the first half and finished the night leading all scorers with 24. Johnson went 8-for-13 from the floor, hitting six three-pointers and dishing 4 assists. Joining Johnson at the top of the charts was Kelsie Cleeton with yet another double-double, scoring 13 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, handing off 5 assists, and capturing 3 steals. Also joining the leaders in double figures were Shelby Roberts with three treys and a total of 14 points, Lakin Simmerman contributing 13 points, and Hannah Wisdom adding 10.
College of the Ozarks hit 73% of their free throws, posted 53% in three-pointers, and had an overall field goal percentage of 48.5. The Lady Cats outrebounded USAO 24-19 and gave the ball up 16 times compared to the Drovers’ 23.
The CofO Coke Classic will continue on Saturday, with Indiana Wesleyan taking on the USAO Drovers at 1 pm, while College of the Ozarks will face John Brown University at 3 pm.
