The College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats suffered a heartbreaking loss 88-101 to Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Saturday in the MCAC South Division Tournament finals. C of O jumped ahead 5 minutes into the game to lead by 9, but OKWU battled back and eventually spread the margin by as many as 16 points in their favor in the second half. Both teams shot 43% FG for the game, but after halftime OKWU went 4-7 from threes, while C of O shot 1-12. The game included eleven players in double figures for both teams, and there were 79 free throws shot collectively between the two top 25 programs. C of O's Freshman Alice Heinzler had a game-high 28 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Senior Emily Walker scored 14 points with 9 rebounds, Junior Tanner Merriman had 13 points, Junior Kayla Kepler scored 11, and Sophomore Brandy Uchtman had 10. OKWU was led by Megan Jones who scored 23 points for the Eagles. #25 C of O's future in making the National Tournament with an at-large bid is yet to be determined, as the bracket for the Tournament held in Sioux City, IA comes out on Wednesday.
