The Lady Bobcats withstood a poor shooting night, shot 24 fewer free throws than their opponent, University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (USAO), and pulled out a 67-50 road victory. The Lady Drovers managed only four made field goals the first half, but kept it close on nine blocked shots by their 6'5 post. C of O went into half-time plus 11 in the rebound column, with only three turnovers to the Lady Drovers ten. Brandy Uchtman led the Lady Cats with ten points at half.
The second half brought slightly better shooting for the Lady Cats, mainly from the three-point line led by freshman Kelsie Cleeton, who nailed three timely triples in the third quarter. After shooting 14-48 from the field in the first half, the Lady Cats were 12-32 in the second half. C of O was 10-13 from the free-throw line to USAO, who shot 25-37. On 26 made shots, the Lady Cats had 18 assists, led by Madisen Brethower with five. C of O also led in the rebounding category 54-47, with 22 gathered on offense; Kelsie Cleeton led with eight. The Lady Cats' 22 offensive rebounds led to 19 second-chance points.
Cleeton also led the team in scoring with 16. She was followed closely by Uchtman with 15 and Lakin Simmerman with 12. C of O held USAO to just 11 made field goals, but they earned half of their point total from the free-throw line.
The Lady Cats (3-1) will host NAIA Div. I #17 Lyon College on Tuesday night at 5:30 PM.
