Justin Carswell graduated from Baylor University in 1997 and went on to acquire his Masters of Divinity in 2000 and his Ph.D. in 2007, both from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
While attending NCAA Division I Baylor University, Carswell competed in the long, high, and triple jumps. His indoor triple jump PR is the fourth best individual mark in the Baylor men's program. He was named to the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll each season of his Baylor career. He has also been involved in coaching as an assistant for the School of the Ozarks’ track and field jumpers and sprinters since 2013. He has coached all-state performers in the pole vault, high jump, and triple jump, with one state champion in the high jump.
Learning well from personal experience at Baylor, and having a father who was a Hall of Fame high school track coach, Carswell is eager to lead the Bobcat teams. “I’m excited to see the interest level of our students and the hidden talent we already have on campus,” Carswell said. “I want our students to experience a quality training program that gets them ready to compete on the collegiate level.”
Carswell will be assisted by Clint Woods, the head cross country coach. Also assisting will be David Lingner, a former NCAA Division III All-American while an athlete at Augustana College.
