Brown, Carpenter & Vogt Named Scholar Athletes

In a recent release by the National Christian College Athletic Association, three Bobcat track members were recognized for their success in the classroom.

Lansing Brown, Loyal Carpenter, and Michael Vogt have all been named NCCAA Scholar Athletes for 2017.

To achieve this award, the student athlete must be a junior or senior making normal progress toward a degree, have completed at least one term at the nominating institution, be a competing student-athlete or a varsity letter winner; and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.40 on a 4.00 scale at the nominating institution.

It is no small accomplishment to be named as a Scholar Athlete, particularly at College of the Ozarks.  Athletes not only balance their studies with the obligations of their sport (practice, travel, and meet performance), but C of O athletes also are held to the same standards as their peers to perform to the best of their abilities in a 15-hour per week on-campus work assignment.

Congratulations to these young men on their accomplishments in their sport and in the classroom!
