On Saturday, November 21, Bobcat cross country runners Dameon Davis and Chris Mitchell had the unique opportunity to run in the NAIA National Cross Country Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The 8K event featured top runners from NAIA schools across the country, each of whom had to meet specific criteria in order to qualify. As a second-year program for the College, it was unexpected that the team would have any individuals qualify for the national event, let alone two men and two women.
With 326 runners participating, Dameon Davis posted a time of 27:21.3 to place 245th and Chris Mitchell ran 28:21.0 for 304th place.
"I’m very happy with our athlete’s success this season,” said cross country head coach Clint Woods. “We saw gradual improvements all season long, and we had great team finishes at our conference meet. Their hard work and determination paid off with an opportunity to compete at the national level.”
Congratulations to each of these Bobcats on an excellent season.
