The Bobcats' Men's and Women's Cross Country teams ran in their first meet of the season on Friday at the Forest Par\k Cross Country Festival in St. Louis. Both men and women ran 5Ks in this event.
The men placed 3rd out of 10, with Lindenwood University and Truman State taking the one and two spots respectively. Bobcat runners Chris Mitchell (17:43), Shane York (17:56), and Loyal Carpenter (18:24) led the way.
The ladies placed 9th out of 11 teams, with Torri Holder (20:34), Kayla Reed (21:30) and Lindsay Heun (23:55) in the forefront. Holder placed 11th out of 86 runners.
Having added 13 new members to this year's team, first year head coach Clint Woods was pleased with the Bobcats' performance in their opening meet and is looking forward to continued improvement as the season progresses. Next on the schedule for the Cross Country Bobcats will be the September 19th meet at Missouri Southern in Joplin. This season the Bobcats will host their first meet, the Ozarks Ambush, on Saturday, October 17th.
