Bobcat Cross Country Takes Second - 3 Runners Head to Nationals

Bobcat Cross CountryThe Bobcat men's cross country team posted a great team run on Saturday in the A.I.I. Conference Championship held in Bettendorf, Iowa.

The Cats finished in second place, trailing the University of British Columbia by 3:08 minutes total in the men’s 8K.  The men recorded a tean time of 135:18.5.  Six teams participated in the event.

Freshman Sam Baumer once again led the way for the men with a time of 26:36.4, finishing in 6th place overall behind five UBC runners in a field of 45.  Loyal Carpenter finished 9th (26:56.6), Preston Burgess was 10th (27:00.9), Dameon Davis came in 12th (27:15.5), and Shane York (27:29.1) was 14th to close out the team score.  Finishing in 15th and 16th place were Jeremy Wood (27:36.2), and Jonathan Zimmerman (27:39.1).  Zach Manes took 19th place (28:18.6), Sam Scaggs was 24th (29:04.4), Nic White finished 25th (29:04.4), and David Byrd was 26th (29:06.7).

As a result of Saturday’s race, three team members qualified to run in the NAIA National Championship race on November 18th in Vancouver, Washington--Sam Baumer, Preston Burgess, and Loyal Carpenter.
