The College of the Ozarks men’s and women’s cross country teams had a record day in the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Fall Classic on October 22nd, with the men’s team finishing in 2nd place out of 13 teams participating in the 8K run. Overall, the two teams had seven runners finish in the top 20.
The men were led by sophomore Jeremy Wood, who finished 14th of 84 runners with his best time of the season at 27:09.7. Close behind were several of his teammates finishing 17, 18, 19 and 21 respectively—Shane York (27:26.2), Dameon Davis (27:26.4), Joshua Ingalls (27:27.5), and Loyal Carpenter (27:28.5). Filling in behind the top five were Jonathan Zmimerman (27:37.7), Sam Scaggs (28:40.2), Nic White (29:49.5), Kirk Washington (29:59.6), Tyler Wiggs (30:43.4), and J. Dalton Harris (32:54.8).
The men’s 8K team time of 2:16:58 was second only to Campbellsville University (Ky.). The men’s team improved their season time by 2 ½ minutes, with 10 of their 11 team members running their best times of the season.
The Fall Classic was the last regular season run for both the men's and women's teams. Having qualified for conference, both teams will head to Denver next week to run in the A.I.I. Conference Championship on November 5th.
