The College of the Ozarks Bobcats, in their last home game of the regular season, faced off against the Central Christian College Tigers on Saturday evening and captured an overtime victory, 76-74.
The first half found both teams evenly matched in almost every stat category and tied at 39 as they headed to the locker room at the half. With just under 4 minutes remaining in the half, the Bobcats held a 7-point advantage, but a few missed shots, combined with a couple of turnovers saw the Tigers move into the lead by 4 points with 1:21 remaining on the clock. With 8 seconds remaining, Cameron Paschke hit a three-pointer for the Bobcats to tie the game, but Central Christian's Kendric Warren scored with one second remaining to take a 2-point lead in regulation. As the Bobcats took the ball out under the basket, Central Christian committed a foul placing Cameron Paschke at the free-throw line, where he sunk both shots to once again tie the game. CCC's Gholston took a full-court shot, but missed to send the game into overtime, where the Bobcats pulled out a 76-74 win.
Leading all scorers was College of the Ozarks' senior Cameron Paschke with 27 points, alongside 7 steals, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. The Cats' Kiefer Starbird posted another impressive double-double on the night, tallying 17 points and pulling down 14 rebounds, while also blocking 4 shots. Ethan Davidson also contributed 10 points and 8 rebounds to the cause. Although Central Christian out-rebounded the Bobcats 59-49, the Bobcats picked 12 steals vs. 5 by CCC and turned the ball over five fewer times.
The win takes the Bobcats' record to 18-7 on the season, and Central Christian moves to 20-6. The Bobcats will travel to Lincoln, Illinois to take on another A.I.I. opponent, Lincoln Christian University, on Tuesday evening.
