The College of the Ozarks’ men’s basketball team picked up their 14th win of the season Tuesday evening in a 78-70 victory of the Scots of Lyon College (Ark.).
The first half found the Bobcats taking a 48-38 lead to the locker room on 59.3% field goal shooting, which included eight 3-pointers. Cameron Paschke led the Cats with 13 points in the half, following closely by freshman Ethan Davidson with 10.
The Cats opened up the second half with a 3-pointer by Ethan Murray and stretched their lead to as many as 17 points in the first 5 ½ minutes of play, but the Scots chipped away and managed to draw within 5 points with about 5 minutes to play. College of the Ozarks prevailed, thanks to a “three” by Paschke and several made free throws to point the Cats back toward a solid lead before they closed the game at 78-70.
The game was fraught with fouls (48 in all) and the Bobcats hit just 62% of their free throws to the Scots 73%. While the Scots also out-rebounded the Cats 34-29, it was the ten made treys by C of O, compared to three by the Scots, that sealed the d
College of the Ozarks was led by Cameron Paschke, who posted 20 points, 3 assists and 4 steals, alongside Joe Young who grabbed 13 rebounds. Also making significant contributions to the victory were Ethan Murray (14 pts.), Ethan Davidson and Canyon Smith (12 pts. each), and Kiefer Starbird and Davidson (2 blocks apiece).
The Bobcats (14-5) will head back on the road to play two games in the Indiana University Northwest Classic this weekend.
