College of the Ozarks’ Bobcats faced off against NAIA Division I William Woods University on Monday evening and, thanks to a big second half, came away with an 87-73 victory.
The Bobcats and Owls played a tight first half, as both teams battled for an advantage. The score was tied seven times in the first half, as William Woods held a six-point edge three different times in the half, but each time the Bobcats hit some key shots to tie up the game. The Owls held a one-point lead, 38-37, as the first half came to a close.
The second half, however, told a different story. The Cats dropped back to a 6-point deficit once again at the 18:53 mark before making their move. Over the next nine minutes, College of the Ozarks took a six-point lead of their own and never looked back.
Bobcat Ethan Davidson led all scorers with 22 points. Calvin Allen and Brandt Cochran posted 17 points, and Canyon Smith added 11. Davidson grabbed a team-leading 5 rebounds and added one block. Heath Carmichael picked two steals, and Calvin Allen dished 9 assists.
William Woods was led by Darrien Dickey with 18 points, DeShaun Stark (17), and Brian Enriquez (14). Stark also snagged a game-leading 8 rebounds.
Monday’s win takes the Bobcats’ record to 6-1, while William Woods drops to 2-4. The Bobcats will play at home on Saturday at 5 p.m. versus Nebraska Christian College.
