Bobcats Win Two and Claim Sole First Place in MCAC

Derek DanielsThis weekend the Bobcats posted two big wins to move into sole possession of first place. 

On Friday, with all five starters scoring in double-figures, the #13 ranked C of O Bobcats pulled off an upset defeating the #3 ranked Bellevue Bruins, 82-81 on the road in Bellevue, Nebraska.  Senior Alex Santiago led the charge scoring 19 points and dishing out a game-high 8 assists.  Pete Leonard finished with 16 points and 9 rebounds.  Cameron Paschke scored 14, Ethan Murray finished with 11 and Derek Daniels added 10 for C of O.  The Bobcats, who led 41-40 at halftime, shot 60% in the second half whereas Bellevue struggled, shooting only 37%. 

Following up their big win on Friday, the Bobcats took took sole possession atop the MCAC standings by winning their 5th straight road game on Saturday night, defeating Waldorf College by a score of 74-67 in Forest City, Iowa.  Senior Derek Daniels scored a team-high 18 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and collected three assists in leading the way for C of O.  The Bobcats, who trailed 31-26 at halftime, received 14 points from Cameron Paschke, 13 points from Ethan Murray, and Pete Leonard added 12.  Santiago had 6 assists and four steals while Leonard and Joe Young led C of O with 6 rebounds.  

The Bobcats are now 21-5 on the season and 10-2 in the MCAC.  The 'Cats will play at home the weekend of February 20-21 to close out the regular season.
