The #15 College of the Ozarks Bobcats hosted #6 Bellevue University on Friday evening, and despite a valiant effort, the Bobcats fell 76-82.
The two teams played a relatively close first half, with Bellevue holding a four-point lead, 41-37, to close out the half. The Bruins came out strong in the second half, and early on scored eight unanswered points to build their lead. After being down by as many as 16 points at 9:35 in the second half, the Bobcats managed to draw within 4 points with 29 seconds left to play.
Bobcat Derek Daniels posted a double-double as he scored 11 points and led the Bobcats’ rebounding effort with 19. Ethan Murray led the scoring with 22, hitting four 3-pointers. The Bobcats' field goal shooting percentage for the game was 39.4%, and they hit only 28% of their three-point shots. Bellevue, however, had a hot hand, posting a 50.8% field goal percentage and shooting 40% from the three-point line. Leading Bellevue was Taylor Young with 20, followed by Thomas Hammock and Alex Worthen-Harris each with 14.
The Bobcats’ record now stands at 13-5 overall, 2-2 in conference. They will return to the court on Saturday to face Waldorf College at 5 PM.
