Although the College of the Ozarks Bobcats took a nine point lead into the locker room at the half over Taylor University (IN), this evening’s 98-89 victory by the College of the Ozarks was obtained in an overtime decision. The Bobcats saw their first half lead melt away quickly, as the Taylor Trojans returned strong. In the second half, the score was tied 12 times and the lead changed six times. The Bobcats opened up OT by scoring 5 quick points, and although the Trojans hit a couple of three-point shots, Taylor was not able to mount a run to defeat the Bobcats. Taylor’s Josh Riikonen led all scorers with 28, but the Bobcats’ Skyler Frazier with 17 had great support from Leonard, Daniels , Santiago and Young, all of whom shot in the double digits. Pete Leonard posted a double-double with his 14 points and 15 rebounds, 12 of which were on defense. In addition to Santiago’s 14 points, he claimed four steals to help ignite the team. The Bobcats’ will take their 6-1 record to Oklahoma this coming weekend, where they will play St. Gregory’s University and Bacone College in the Oklahoma Wesleyan Classic.
