The College of the Ozarks Bobcats and Evangel University met for the first of two games in the Rib Crib Highway 65 Series on Tuesday evening, with the Bobcats claiming an 89-86 win.
It was a game filled with streaks, as the Bobcats went on a 10-0 run early in the first half for a 20-10 lead, only to watch their lead fall away, as Evangel went on a 14-point run to take the lead 38-40 with 49 seconds remaining in the first half. The half ended with a 40-40 tie. College of the Ozarks returned to the court in the second half posting a 17-4 run, and then proceeded to return the favor while watching Evangel make a run to take a seven point lead with 7 minutes remaining. The Bobcats tied up the game at 1:51 on one of Ethan Murray’s six 3-pointers, and pulled ahead on a 3-pointer by Cameron Paschke with 43 seconds to go. Following the 7th tie of the game at the 22 second mark, Murray hit a two, followed by a free throw, securing a 3-point win for the Cats.
Leading the Bobcats were: Ethan Murray (26 points, 9-12 FG and 6-9 on 3pt shots), Cameron Paschke (17 pts., with three 3 pointers, 6 assists and 4 steals), Heath Carmichael (13 pts., four 3-pointers), and Joe Young (10 rebounds).
Top Evangel players included: Nick Yocum (27 pts.), Richard Chapman (18 pts., 5 steals), and Billy Thompson II (9 rebounds).
The Bobcats (2-1) will head to Batesville, Arkansas, to take on the Lyon College Scots on Friday evening. They will return to their home court next week on Tuesday at 7 PM against John Brown University and Friday, Nov. 20, at 7 PM versus Huntington University.
