The NAIA DII No. 10 ranked College of the Ozarks Bobcats (22-6) took on Oklahoma Wesleyan University (7-22) on the Bobcats' home court Saturday evening.
The game opened up with the Bobcats continuing their scoring troubles of the previous evening, hitting .375 from the field in the first half and trailing OKWU 37-48 at the half. Upon return to the court, the Bobcats had a slow start, falling behind by as many 18 points midway through the 2nd half. But the ‘Cats shots finally began to fall, their shooting percentage increased to 48.35% in the second half, and the Bobcats pulled out an amazing come-from-behind victory, 86-79.
Senior Alex Santiago hit 7-12 from the field, with 2 threes, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists; senior Derek Daniels added 19, including 4 treys; and Pete Leonard and Joe Young led the rebounding with 7 each.
Heading up the OKWU scoring was C. J. Ross with 18, followed closely by Nikola Stjepanovic with 16. OKWU had two players with double-doubles, C. J. Ross (18 pts., 11 reb.) and Steven Cooks (12 pts., 10 reb).
The Bobcats, who ended the regular season tied for first place with Bellevue University at 11-3, will host the South Division of the MCAC tournament next weekend.
