Despite trailing most of the game Friday evening, the Bobcats made key plays late in the second half to hold off the Central Christian Tigers, pulling out a 74-72 victory.
Cameron Paschke, who led the Bobcats with 17 points, hit a three pointer with 2:30 remaining in the game to give the Bobcats the lead for good. The Bobcats, who had struggled at the line early in the game, made 9 of 10 down the stretch to stay in the game and then eventually hold on for the win.
The Tigers had a couple of opportunities to tie it in the final seconds but they made only one of two free throws with three seconds left--then down three. They were fouled on a desperation shot with less than a second on the clock but only made one of three free throws.
Joining Paschke in double figures were Ethan Murray, Canyon Smith, and Kiefer Starbird who each had 12 points. Starbird also blocked five shots during the contest while Skyler Frazier led the efforts on the boards with nine rebounds.
On Saturday, the Bobcats fell to York College, who entered the game with a 16-8 record. The Panthers took advantage of offensive rebounds and an off game at the free throw line by the Bobcats to capture the win. York built the lead to as many as 16 in the second half. While the Bobcats managed to pull within nine points late in the game, they could get no closer.
The Panthers out-rebounded the Bobcats 40-35 which included 12 offensive rebounds, while C of O shot 23-of-36 from the free throw line.
Ethan Murray led all scorers in the contest with 30 points, while the Panthers ended with six players in double figures.
The Bobcats are now 17-6 on the season and will return home to face these same two opponents next weekend on the Cats' home court with games Friday night at 7:30 pm and Saturday evening at 5 pm.
