College of the Ozarks men’s basketball fell to Mount Mercy University on Saturday afternoon by a score of 79-88, which extended the Bobcats’ losing streak to three games after having won 11 in a row.
The Bobcats had difficulty stopping the Mustangs in the lane, giving up 58 points in the paint. The Cats also were outrebounded 40-28 and shot 41% to Mt. Mercy’s 55%. The Bobcats did capitalize on 23 Mount Mercy fouls, picking up 18 points at the free-throw line.
Bobcats’ junior guard Cameron Paschke posted a career-high 27 points for the game, including three treys, and went 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. Also scoring well for the Cats were senior forward Skyler Frazier with 16 points and freshman forward Ethan Davidson, who was 5-for-6, picking up 11 points and gathering 6 rebounds. Junior guard Joe Young was the game’s leading rebounder with 8.
The Mustangs were led by C. J. Parker with 15 points, Derik Gogg with 7 rebounds, and Tre Wagner with 6 assists. Mount Mercy held the Bobcat’s season-leading scorer, Ethan Murray to just four points on the day.
The loss moves the Bobcats’ record to 11-4. The team will hit the road mid-week in hopes of starting a new winning streak, as they take on Crowley’s Ridge College in Paragould, Ark. on January 14. Both the Bobcats and Lady Cats will play at home on Saturday, January 16th, against Haskell Indian Nations University.
