On Tuesday evening, the #12 ranked NAIA DII College of the Ozarks Bobcats took the court to face Baptist Bible College of Springfield. The Bobcats, with a 97-63 victory, saw their winning streak extend to eight games.
The Bobcats closed the first half with a 49-29 lead over the Patriots on 17 points by senior guard Ethan Murray, including 5 three-pointers, alongside junior center Kiefer Starbird who posted 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Topping off the first half was an impressive last-second half-court, 3-point shot made by Bobcat junior guard Joe Young.
While the Bobcats’ field goal shooting percentage was strong in the first half at 47.5%, it improved on a 19-of-34 performance (56%) for the second half to 51.4% overall. The same was true for their three-point shooting, with a first half percentage of 41.7 and the second half at 53.8, averaging 45.9% for the game, when the Cats drained 17 of 37.
Murray led all scorers with 23 points, hitting 7-of-12 treys. Four additional Bobcats posted double-digit scoring—Cameron Paschke (13 pts., 8 assists, 3 three-pointers), Kiefer Starbird with a double-double (10 pts., 12 reb., 4 blocks), Joe Young (10 pts., 7 reb., 4 assists), and Canyon Smith (10 pts.). Also making a significant contribution to the game was Skyler Frazier, who picked up 9 points and 6 rebounds on the night. The Bobcats tallied 32 points off the bench.
Leading the Patriots was Jaylen Jones with 19 pts and 4 rebounds, assisted by Skyler Baker (15 pts., 5 reb.), Devon Matthews (14 pts.), and Chris Dobson (10 pts., 6 reb.).
