Former and current College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcat players will unite for a benefit game to aid Joplin High School girl’s basketball team, after a devastating tornado destroyed Joplin High School. Area high school girl’s basketball teams are invited to participate in the activities, as well.
“After the tornado hit Joplin on May 22, our coaching staff and players discussed what our team could do to help with this rebuilding effort,” says C of O Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Becky Vest. “As we narrowed our focus to one specific group we could impact, we decided that we wanted to assist the Joplin girl’s basketball team.” The benefit’s focus is to help the Joplin team in buying new equipment and uniforms.
The event will be held on June 18 at 7 p.m. in the Keeter Gymnasium. Attendees can enjoy games, door prizes, entertainment and an autograph session with the Lady Bobcats.
Price of admission will be donation based, and all proceeds will go to Joplin High School.
Community members wanting to show support, but who are unable to attend may send all donations via mail to Women’s Basketball PO Box 17 Point Lookout, 65736. Or e-mail Becky Vest at firstname.lastname@example.org to make other arrangements. For more information or to register your high school team for participation, call (417) 690-2574 or e-mail Coach Vest.
