The College is excited to announce the addition of a Men’s and Women’s Cross Country program beginning with the fall 2014 season.
The main objective of adding Cross Country to the College’s athletic program is to provide an opportunity for current students to participate in a collegiate sport. In addition, the College will plan to recruit area cross country athletes for the men’s and women’s teams. The goal is to field an 8-10 member team for both the men and the women.
The 2014 teams will be coached by Athletic Director Al Waller. A fall schedule is being prepared, which is expected to include 5-6 cross-country meets off campus. Coach Waller stated, “We are hopeful to bring a collegiate cross country meet to our campus in the future.” He also commented, “The decision to add cross country demonstrates the College’s continued commitment to the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference, which includes a cross country championship meet each year hosted by Haskell University.”
A meeting will be held in the coming weeks to gauge student body interest in participating on the men’s and women’s teams.
