College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats dropped their 5th match of the season as they were defeated by the Owls of William Woods University on Monday in four sets, 25-19, 21-25, 15-25, 17-25.
The Lady Cats entered the contest looking to knock off the very talented 18-2 Owls. Coming out strong, College of the Ozarks won the first set 25-19 but could not keep their momentum, falling in the following three sets.
Haley Stallings collected 30 digs, Alex Spears posted 13 kills, and Rielly Dobbs provided 34 assists, while Hannah Bracker, Kayli Grant, and Maggie Plake posted 5 blocks a piece. Both Danielle Curnes (12 kills and 14 digs) and Spears (13 kills and 10 digs) finished the night with double-doubles. The stat charts were fairly competitive in most categories, but the Owls forced 31 Lady Cat errors compared to recording only 23 of their own. William Woods’ Abby Ferguson led her team with 11 kills.
The Bobcats will not play again until the C of O A.I.I. Midseason Tournament on October 20-21 at the Keeter Gymnasium. The Lady Bobcats’ record now stands at a still-impressive 20-5.
