The Lady Bobcats picked up three wins this weekend in the Ashford University Invitational, boosting their season record to 10-11, and placing them 2-0 in conference play.
The Cats began their weekend falling 3-1 to Cardinal Stritch (WI), a tough opponent who went 4-0 in the tournament and now boasts a record of 18-4. College of the Ozarks won the first set 25-16, but Cardinal Stritch came back to post 25-22, 25-10, and 26-24 wins to close out the match. Leading the Lady Cats were Jamie Reaves (10 kills), Lindsay Boone & Sarah Kreul (17 assists), Logan Allen (5 blocks) and Brandi Stahl (19 digs).
Friday evening’s contest was against host and conference foe Ashford University, and despite losing the first two sets (21-25), the Lady Cats came back with resounding 25-22, 25-15, and 15-12 victories to take the match. Four Lady Cats posted double digit kills and four gathered double-digit digs, but Chloe’ Shepherd led with 16 kills and Brandi Stahl with 33 digs. Lindsay Boone provided 28 assists, while Jamie Reaves posted 9 blocks.
Saturday pitted the Lady Cats against St. Francis (IL) in a game where both teams won alternating sets (21-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-19). C of O took the 5th set 15-9 for a 3-2 victory. Danielle Curnes provided a team leading 14 kills and 7 service aces, alongside Lindsay Boone’s 24 assists. Ashlynn Rogers, Chloe’ Shepherd and Brandi Stahl each grabbed 20+ digs, and Jamie Reaves racked up 9 more blocks.
In their final game of the weekend, the Lady Cats quickly set down Fisk University in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-14, 25-15. Leading the attack were: Jamie Reaves (8 kills, 6 blocks), Lindsay Boone (16 assists), and Hannah Bracker (4 service aces and 14 digs).
The Lady Cats will play at home on Tuesday, September 29th, against William Woods University at 7 PM, then head back out of town this weekend.
