College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats dropped their 4th match of the season, as they were defeated by the Eagles Wednesday evening at Central Methodist University in five sets, 25-20, 18-25, 25-23, 20-25, 11-15.
The Lady Cats entered the match with a seven-game win streak, and the Eagles were coming off three straight wins. CMU fell 20-25 to the Lady Cats in the first set, but did not lose their desire for payback of two prior defeats (0-3, 2-3) to the Bobcats this season. CMU came out strong in the second set and tied up the match at 1-1. College of the Ozarks rallied to take set three, but fell behind and was unable to capture sets 4 and 5.
Haley Stallings collected 31 digs, Rielly Dobbs provided 49 assists, Danielle Curnes posted 13 kills, and Kayli Grant tallied 4 blocks to lead the Bobcats. Recording double-doubles for the Lady Cats were Curnes (13 kills, 11 digs) and Alex Spears (11 kills, 17 digs). CMU posted 75 kills to CofO's 57, with Darcy Latham and Madison Bond providing 19 and 18 respectively. The Lady Cats excelled in their serves, picking up 6 service aces with 4 errors compared to CMU's 4 aces and 11 service errors.
The Bobcats will be back on the road Monday, October 9, to face William Woods University. The Cats will seek to even up their series with the Owls, as WWU handed CofO their first home loss of the season on September 19. The Lady Bobcats' record now stands at 20-4.
