The Lady Bobcats picked up their fifth win of the season Thursday evening as they defeated Avila University (Kansas City, Mo.) in three straight sets, 25-23, 25-17, and 25-17.
Stats for the match were relatively similar in terms of kills (36,31), assists (35,29), blocks (4,5) and digs (56,54), but attack errors by Avila played a key role in the CofO win. The Lady Bobcats posted a .260 attack percentage (9 errors) compared to .078 (22 errors) for the Lady Eagles.
Leading the way for College of the Ozarks were: Haley Stallings with 14 digs and 2 service aces (supported by Danielle Curnes, Rielly Dobbs, and Alex Spears each with 10 digs), Alex Spears driving 10 kills, Dobbs handing out 21 assists, and Logan Allen garnering 3 solo blocks.
Thursday’s win brings the Lady Bobcats’ season record to 5-4.
This weekend will find the Lady Bobcats at the Bellevue Labor Day Classic, where they face off against Saint Francis-IL (2-3) and Montana State University-Northern (1-3) on Friday. Their competition on Saturday will include #10 ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University with a record of 7-0 and #17 Madonna University (5-0) on Saturday.
