The Lady Bobcats posted a 2-2 record for the weekend in the Evangel University tournament held at The Courts in Springfield.
An opening match victory (3-2) over Lindenwood University-Belleville featured four Lady Cats with double-digit kills--Danielle Curnes (19), Jamie Reaves (14), Chloe' Shepherd (11) and Brandy Glessner (10). Lindsay Boone and Sarah Kreul dished 27 and 23 assists, while digs by Stahl (37), Kreul (19) and Curnes (14) carried the defense alongside 16 team team blocks headed by Logan Allen (5).
Match 2 against Tabor College was a different story, with the Lady Bobcats suffering the loss in three sets (25-13, 25-10, 25-23). Tabor posted 15 blocks, 36 kills and 7 service aces against the Cats' 6 blocks, 27 kills and 3 service aces.
In the third match, played Saturday afternoon, the Lady Bobcats put up a valiant effort against William Woods University, but took the loss 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 25-17). Chloe' Shepherd led the Cats’ offense with 12 kills, and Lindsay Boone provided 21 assists. Defensively, Brandi Stahl garnered 13 digs and Logan Allen contributed 5 blocks.
Coming back strong in the fourth match, the Bobcats posted a 3-0 victory over Central Baptist College, 25-17, 25-10, 25-17. Stats are not yet available from this match.
The Lady Bobcats will head to William Woods University on Tuesday with hopes of evening the score by capturing a victory. Later this week, the team will play their home opener on Thursday evening at 8 PM against Missouri Southern State University, followed by a 6 PM match against Williams Baptist College on Friday (please note the time change to 6 PM).
