The Lady Bobcats volleyball team, sitting one game below .500, took the court at Evangel University Tuesday evening and captured a big win, 3-2.
Set one found the Crusaders and Bobcats tied at 13, when Evangel proceeded to make a 6-point run. However, the Bobcats, who were down 23-17 at one point, put together an 8-point rally to close out the set with a 25-23 win.
Set two featured 11 ties, with Evangel up as many as six points at 20-14. The Lady Cats tied the game at 24, but in a back-and-forth exchange, Evangel persevered to pull out a 29-27 victory.
It was all about the Lady Crusaders in set three, as they cruised to a 25-10 victory.
The C of O crowd was a bit nervous headed into set 4, and Evangel held a slim lead most of the way. However, the Lady Cats proved they were not finished for the night, tying the score at 18 and again at 20, then going on to claim a 25-23 win.
The deciding set saw CofO take the lead and never look back, winning the set,15-8, and the match, 3-2.
The Lady Bobcats were led in the stat columns by sophomore Alex Spears (16 kills), and freshmen Rielly Dobbs (26 assists and 2 aces), Haley Stallings (43 digs and 2 aces), and Makensi Taylor (5 blocks).
Tuesday's win brings the C of O Lady Bobcats' record to 7-7 on the season, and Evangel, losing their fourth consecutive game, moved to 5-5.
The Lady Cats will head to The Courts in Springfield this weekend for a four-match series, which features games against Tabor College and John Brown University at 5 & 7 pm on Friday and Bellevue University and University of Saint Mary at noon and 2 pm on Saturday.
