The Lady Bobcats picked up their seventh straight victory on Tuesday evening in their match against Crowley's Ridge College (Ark.), taking their season record to 16-10.
The team came out strong, taking the first two sets 25-11 and 25-12. Head coach Stacy Edwards was able to sub freely, providing opportunities for several players to acquire some much-desired court time. The third set found the Pioneers of Crowley’s Ridge making some noise, as they posed some challenges for the Bobcats. However, College of the Ozarks prevailed and took the final set by a score of 28-26.
Posting 19 kills and 20 errors for the match, the Pioneers struggled offensively, while the Lady Bobcats were able to post a .258 hitting percentage on 49 kills with 18 errors. Leading the Cats for the evening were senior Brandy Glessner with 18 kills alongside freshmen Rielly Dobbs and Haley Stallings, who provided 25 assists and 26 digs respectively.
For the fifth straight week, Stallings is ranked as NAIA's number 1 in Total Digs (660) and Digs Per Game (7.250). As a team, the Lady Bobcats currently hold the number 1 ranking in Total Digs (2,067) and Digs Per Game (22.7); the Cats are #7 in Total Kills (1,184) and #8 in Total Assists (1,040).
The Lady Bobcats will take the court at home again next week as they face long-time rival Evangel University on October 12th at 7 PM. College of the Ozarks came out on top in the September 6th meeting between the two foes, winning 3-2 in a closely contested match in Springfield.
