The College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats mounted an amazing comeback against Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Tex. on Saturday to advance beyond the Opening Round of the NAIA National Volleyball Championship.
Our Lady of the Lake University Saints seemed confident they were headed to victory, as the Lady Cats opened up the match losing two sets (17-25, 20-25). The Lady Cats, however, had different plans. They battled back to capture the third set in a down-to-the-wire squeaker by a score of 26-24. The Cats then followed up with a 25-20 win in the fourth to tie the match at 2 sets apiece. Our Lady of the Lake took an early lead in the fifth set, and the Lady Cats were down 5-11 before two big rallies that outscored the Saints 10-1 to capture the win.
The Lady Bobcats were led by senior Brandy Glessner and junior Danielle Curnes, each with 11 kills. Freshman Haley Stallings picked up 39 digs alongside two service aces, Sarah Kreul dished 16 assists, and Makensi Taylor and Logan Allen each provided 7 blocks.
The victory punches the Lady Bobcats' ticket to the NAIA National Volleyball Championship in Sioux City, IA, on November 29.
