The 2015-16 Lady Bobcat volleyball team was recently named as the recipient of the 2015-16 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
A letter from AVCA Executive Director Kathleen J. DeBoer to the College's athletic director, Steve Shepherd, states, "This award honors teams who have matched their dedication to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom. Meeting the award standards is an accomplishment of which your school and team can be very proud."
Lady Bobcat head volleyball coach Stacy Edwards has made valuable contributions not only to the players' on-court success, but to their academic success, impressing upon her team the importance of character and hard work in the classroom as well as on the court.
All full-time students at College of the Ozarks, including athletes, work 15 hours per week and one 40-hour work week each semester in exchange for free tuition. The time dedicated by the volleyball team to matches, practice, and travel, along with work commitments, class attendance, and study time, demonstrates their commitment to hard work and great character in all aspects of their college career.
Congratulations, Lady Bobcats!
