On Friday evening, College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats faced #24 ranked Grand View University (IA) on the Bobcats’ home court. The Lady Cats played tough, particularly in the second and third sets, but fell short in the effort, losing 3-0 (19-25, 25-27, 23-25).
The Lady Bobcats were led by Jamie Reaves (8 kills and 3 blocks) and Lindsay Boone (12 assists), alongside Danielle Curnes and Brandi Stahl (12 digs each). Leading the charge for the Grand View Vikings were Taylor Wells (24 kills), Chrissy Daggett (30 assists), Courtney Bliss (23 digs), and Megan Meiller and Marie Hadar (2 blocks apiece).
The loss, the Lady Bobcats’ third in a row at home, brings their record to 15-17 on the season, while Grand View improves their record to 21-12.
Prior to the start of the game, Lady Bobcat seniors Jamie Reaves and Lindsay Boone were recognized for their many contributions to the team. Both have been members of the team for four years. Boone, a nursing major, has played 400+ sets for the Lady Cats, tallying 898 assists and 201 blocks to date. She leads the team in assists this season, as she did in 2014. Reaves, an elementary education major, has played close to 500 sets for the Cats, leading the team in blocks all four seasons. Currently ranked #6 in the NAIA in total blocks, she has posted 480 career blocks to date. Reaves has also provided an impressive 1,241 career kills, averaging 2.5 per set. Reaves and Boone were recipients of All-Conference honors last season, with Reaves also being named Honorable Mention All-American.
The Lady Cats will return to the court Saturday afternoon, when they host a tri-match with University of St. Thomas (TX) and John Brown University (AR). The Lady Bobcats will play at 1 PM and 5 PM in their final home games of the season.
