The Lady Bobcats celebrated Senior night by defeating the Crusaders of Evangel University 3-2 (27-25, 17-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-10). Thursday night’s victory ends the Bobcats’ streak of eight consecutive losses to the Crusaders and brings the College of the Ozarks’ record to 14-14 overall. The Bobcats (7-1), who played their last regular season game this evening, are currently tied with Bellevue University (5-1) for first place in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Leading the Bobcats in tonight’s big win were Jamie Reaves with 17 kills, Lindsay Boone providing 27 assists, and Brandi Stahl with an impressive 46 digs (tying a team record held by Jami Arasmith since 2005). Logan Allen, Jamie Reaves and Kayley Walker added two blocks apiece. The Bobcats came from behind on numerous occasions, in front of their largest crowd of the season, to secure the victory.
Stat leaders for Evangel featured: Micah Cribbs-Guiot (13 kills), Haley Watson (2 aces and 3 blocks), Jackie Fugate (also 3 blocks), Maddie Baumann (19 assists), and Morgan Smith (31 digs).
The Lady Bobcats will be watching the stats closely this weekend as Bellevue University plays at Haskell and Oklahoma Wesleyan. A loss by Bellevue in either game would give College of the Ozarks sole possession of first place in the conference and result in their hosting the conference tournament next weekend.
