Following a successful 3-0 homestand, the Lady Bobcat volleyball team is back on the road. The ladies are headed to Clinton, Iowa, where they will play four matches in the Ashford University tournament.
The Lady Cats will face some tough competition, as they take on Cardinal Stritch University at 5 PM on Friday. Cardinal Stritch posts a 14-4 record and leads the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 4-0 record. They also boast the conference leaders in service aces and assists--Emily Chilton with 36 aces and Kelsey Johnson with 627 assists. At 7 PM, the Lady Cats face tournament host Ashford University, who holds a 10-8 record for the season.
Saturday’s matchups include the University of St. Francis (IL) at noon with a 5-9 record, and Fisk College, another AII conference team at 7 PM. Fisk has a 9-3 record on the season and features conference leader MacKenzie Milon with 30 service aces.
Current stat leaders for the Lady Bobcats include: Sarah Kreul (20 aces), Danielle Curnes (161 kills), Lindsay Boone (307 assists), Brandi Stahl (306 digs), and Jamie Reaves (61 blocks).
During the first half of the season, the Lady Bobcats faced several Top 25 teams and continued to strengthen their game, so hopes are high this weekend will find them confident and ready to bring home some victories.
The Bobcats will return home to play William Woods University this coming Tuesday, September 27, at 7 PM in the Keeter Gymnasium.
