While basketball was taking place in a warm, dry gym on Saturday, the College of the Ozarks’ baseball team was taking care of business out on the ballfield amidst a steady rain.
The Bobcats won their season-opening game by a score of 13-7 over Williams Baptist College, with right-hander Timmy Townsend (pictured) procuring the win. Cody Pentecost was 1-2, driving in 3 runs, and Austin Schweiss was 2-3 with 4 runs scored.
Game 2 of the double header also found the Bobcats at the top, 9-4. Junior Silas Bohannan pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up 5 hits and 4 runs, none of which were earned. Third baseman Eddy Devora was 2-4 at the plate, driving in 4 runs for the Bobcats.
The 'Cats will head to Springdale, Arkansas later next week to play four games against Ecclesia College, weather permitting. The Bobcat's current schedule is posted on the website.
