The College of the Ozarks Bobcats baseball team posted two wins on Wednesday afternoon, as they defeated the William Woods University Owls by scores of 10-4 and 5-3.
In the opener, the Cats picked up 10 runs on 11 hits and 4 WWU errors. Tad Mitchell had a solid game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Also contributing with their bats were Dylan Heitz, who went 2-for-3 with a double, stolen base and one RBI, and Chad Reusch, who was 3-for-5, including 2 runs, 1, RBI, two doubles, and a stolen base. Collan Thrasher picked up another complete game win for the Bobcats. Thrasher gave up 3 earned runs on 7 hits and 2 walks, striking out 6.
The second game saw senior pitcher Alex Stephens also collect a complete game win, as he allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits and 1 walk with 5 strikeouts. The Bobcats capitalized on their hits, scoring 5 runs on just 5 hits. Jacob Karlson scored 3 runs and drove in one RBI in his 4 at bats. J.D. Chadwell also went 2-for-4 at the plate, driving in two runs and stealing 2 bases. The long ball played a part in the Cats success, as Jacob Karlson and Austin Schweiss each tagged a homerun.
Wednesday’s two victories improve the College of the Ozarks’ record to 25-18. The Bobcats, weather permitting, have 7 games remaining in their regular schedule, with the next two games taking place at home on Saturday, April 22, beginning at 1 PM. Following Saturday's doubleheader, the Bobcats will play their remaining five regular season games on the road.
