Trevor Bowling, who hit .375 for the weekend

The Bobcats faced the NAIA’s No. 11 ranked team and ace pitching staff, Oklahoma Wesleyan University, on the diamond this weekend. Due to weather conditions, the scheduled home game was relocated to Bartlesville, so the Bobcats unfortunately lost their home-field advantage. Despite some good hitting (which included 8 doubles), strong pitching, and some great plays on the field, the Bobcats were unable to bring home a victory against the MCAC leader. Following are brief recaps of each game, highlighting our key players…

Friday - Game 1: OWU 5, CofO 4 - Timmy Townsend led the hitting by going 3 for 4 with a double. Cody Pentecost was 2-4, and Trevor Bowling, who also hit a double, was 2-5. The Bobcats scored 4 runs in the top of the 9th to tie the game, but OKWU managed to score a run in the bottom of the inning to secure the win. Josh Neufeld pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts; Jason Myers pitched one scoreless, no hit inning, and Austin Reaves took the loss giving up one run on 3 hits in the final inning.

Friday - Game 2: OWU 4, CofO 2 - Leading the hitting was Designated Hitter Eddy Devora, who went 2-3 with a double. Left fielder Cody Hull was 2-3. Landon Jarrett pitched 4.2 innings giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts; Jason Myers faced the final 4 batters giving up no runs and no hits.

Saturday Game 1: OWU 3, CofO 1 – Going 2 for 2 was DH Silas Bohannan, followed by Second Baseman Trevor Bowling at 2-4. Bohannan, Hull & Rasmussen all posted doubles, but the Cats were only able to score one run. Timmy Townsend: 7.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, 3 strikeouts, and no walks. The Bobcats led 1-0 going into the bottom of the 8th, where OKWU put together 3 runs.

Saturday - Game 2: OWU 6, CofO 2 – Cody Pentecost & Eddy Devora each went 1 for 3 in the game, with Pentecost and Bowling driving in the 2 runs. The middle-of-the-order hitters for OKWU went 7-10, driving in 5 of their runs. Stephens, Bohannan, Myers and Reaves all pitched in this joint effort, with Alex Stephens suffering the loss.

Season Stat Leaders for the Bobcats are: • Batting Average: Trevor Bowling @ .336 (3 other Bobcats are over .300 – Bohannan, Pentecost & Devora) • RBI: Eddy Devora with 25 RBI • Stolen Bases: Tyler Lopez with 9 • ERA: Josh Neufeld @ 4.05 • Strikeouts: Josh Neufeld averaging 10.13 per game.
