The MCAC released the 2015 MCAC Baseball All-Conference Teams, Gold Glove Team, and Scholar Athletes on April 30th. College of the Ozarks Bobcats were well represented, receiving the following awards:
MCAC First Team: Cody Pentecost – Pentecost is having an amazing senior season, batting .399 and boasting a .978 fielding percentage. He has scored 27 runs and posted 57 hits, 11 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, and 27 RBI, while drawing 20 walks and stealing 9 bases.
MCAC 2nd Team: Cody Hull, Josh Neufeld, and Jason Myers - Hull has an impressive .365 batting average, scoring 42 runs and posting 57 hits, 8 doubles, 1 triple, a team-leading 7 homeruns, and 336 RBI, along with 9 stolen bases. Neufeld, the Bobcats leading left-handed pitcher, has a 7-1 record this season, including 2 complete games and 73 strikeouts. Myers has been the team’s primary relief pitcher, pitching 40.2 innings and picking up 5 saves. He has struck out 35 batters while giving up only 7 walks.
Gold Glove Team: Cody Hull and Cody Pentecost – Left fielder Cody Hull and center fielder Cody Pentecost have been near-perfect in the outfield for the Bobcats. Pentecost boasts a .978 fielding percentage, with 89 putouts and 2 assists in his 43 games played. Hull has a .959 fielding percentage, with 46 putouts and 1 assist in 43 games.
Scholar Athletes: Jason Myers, Jesse Fisher, and Tyler Marion - to earn this award, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, own a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher, and have completed at least two semesters at their present institution. This award is especially significant for C of O athletes, as all athletes are required to work 15 hours per week at an on-campus job in addition to managing their class schedules, homework, practice, games and travel days.
