The Bobcats had a rough day at the plate on Friday, as they dropped a pair of games in Texarkana, Texas.
In the opener, C of O squandered a great pitching performance from Alex Stephens and fell 4-0 to LSU-Shreveport. The junior right-hander pitched eight innings, allowing just one earned run on 5 hits. Stephens struck out five and walked none in the loss. The Bobcats struggled offensively, getting only a pair of singles from Dylan Heitz and a single from Austin Schweiss.
In its second game Friday, College of the Ozarks was bombarded early by the Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles and never recovered. The Bobcats fell 10-2 after giving up eight runs in the first two innings. A quick C of O error opened the floodgates in the first inning, as the Eagles followed the error with 7 straight hits off C of O ace Garrett Woods for a quick 5-0 lead. Texarkana added three more in the second before Bobcat reliever Ethan Whiteis stymied the Eagles over the next five innings. The Cats scored a pair of runs on sacrifice flies in the seventh, but it was too little, too late.
The Bobcats (21-20) continue the series Saturday at 2 p.m., once again battling LSU-Shreveport (25-13).
