The College of the Ozarks Bobcat baseball team dropped both games of their doubleheader against York College on Friday afternoon, 11-8 and 9-3.
While York took the early lead in game one, the Bobcats came back to take a 6-3 lead headed into the 4th. York responded with two consecutive three-run innings to retake the lead and not look back. The long ball was definitely in play in game one, as the York Panthers hit 4 homers that net them 8 runs, while the Bobcats had back-to-back solos by Dylan Heitz and J.D. Chadwell. Following two solid starts that resulted in wins, CofO's Collan Thrasher suffered the loss, giving up 9 runs in 4.2 innings.
Game two saw York take a 6-0 lead after 3 innings, as the Bobcats struggled against Panther left-hander Adam Kimmel. The Cats put two runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to four, but the Panthers returned to score 3 in the top of the 6th and close out the game with an 9-3 victory. Kimmel picked up the win for York, while Wyatt Saltarelli took the loss for the Bobcats, giving up 6 runs on 6 hits.
Leading the Bobcats at the plate on the day was Dylan Heitz, who went 2-for-4, with 3 runs scored, 2 RBI, a homer, a walk, and 2 HBP.
The Bobcats will return to their home field on Saturday for a chance to even up the series, as they face York in another doubleheader at Noon and 2 p.m.
College of the Ozarks moves to 6-3 on the season, and York's record improves to 10-4.
