Bobcats Take Two from Ecclesia

The Bobcats have managed to sneak in a few games between snow and rain, posting a 5-4 record as of this writing.  The Bobcats most recently defeated Ecclesia College in Wednesday evening’s double header, with wins of 8-5 and 6-5.

In game one, the Cats put up 4 runs in the second and fourth innings, giving up all of Ecclesia’s 5 runs in the top of the 7th.  Cody Pentecost and Austin Schweiss each went 2-for-3 to lead the Cats at the plate, with J.D. Payne driving in 4 runs.  Christian Vonderheide grabbed the win, giving up only 3 hits in 6 innings pitched and striking out 6 batters, while walking only 1.

Game two found the Bobcats and Ecclesia knotted up at 5 in the 5th.  The Cats scored one in the bottom of the sixth and held Ecclesia in the 7th, to capture the 6-5 victory.  The Bobcats shared the wealth at the plate, as Cody Hull went 2-for-3, J.D. Payne was 1-for-1, and 5 other players each added a hit to give the Bobcats the edge.  Caleb Rowold earned the win and Jason Myers the save, as four Bobcat pitchers held Ecclesia to 5 runs on 6 hits.

The Bobcats hope to take the field this weekend, as they are scheduled to open conference play against Waldorf College.  The actual schedule will depend upon the weather – current plans are to play double headers on Saturday at about 3 PM and Sunday at 2 PM.  All games are planned to be held at Forsyth High School's field.  The Bobcats currently have a winning record of 5-4 for the season.
