The College of the Ozarks Bobcats hosted Mount Mercy College this weekend with doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. In Saturday's Game 1, the Bobcats allowed Mount Mercy to take a 3-run lead into the bottom of the 6th. The Bobcats then proceeded to put together a 6th inning rally that brought the 'Cats within 1. In the bottom of the 7th, the Bobcats tied the game at 3 and followed up with an infield single by Tyler Lopez (pictured), allowing Trevor Bowling to score and claim the 4-3 victory for the Bobcats! Timmy Townsend pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 3 runs and chalking up 10 strikeouts, but it was Austin Reaves who claimed the win. Cody Hull went 2-3 at the plate, and Trevor Bowling scored two of the 'Cats four runs.
Game 2 found Mount Mercy taking an early lead, scoring four runs in the top of the first. However, the Bobcats responded with one run in the bottom of the inning and followed with 2 in the third and 2 in the fifth to win 5-4. Tyler Lopez went 2 for 3, and drove in 3 runs. Trevor Bowling was 1-2, drew 2 walks, and scored 3 runs. Silas Bohannan grabbed the win, pitching 5 innings, and Landon Jarrett picked up the save.
On Sunday, the Bobcats defeated Mount Mercy 5-4 in Game 1. Tyler Lopez went 2-4 and drove in the winning run. Malachi Melton was 2 for 3, including a home run and 2 runs batted in. Alex Stephens was the winning pitcher, going 6.2 innings.
Game 2 was a tough loss, as the Bobcats gave up 2 runs in the top of the 7th, giving Mt. Mercy a 7-5 lead. Leaders at the plate were Cody Pentecost, who went 2-3 and drove in one run, and Silas Bohannan, who was 1-3 and drove in 2 runs.
Weather permitting, the Bobcats will play this coming weekend at home against Graceland University.
