The College of the Ozarks Bobcat baseball team took their home field once again on Saturday to face Graceland University in a doubleheader.
Game one found the Bobcats leading 2-0 headed into the sixth inning, but the Yellowjackets picked up 4 runs in the top of the inning to grab the lead. The Cats were unable to put any additional runs on the board in their final two innings and fell, 4-2. Graham picked up the win for the Yellowjackets, pitching 7 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Alex Stephens suffered the loss, pitching 6 innings, giving up 4 earned runs on 5 hits, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Leading the Cats at the plate was Cody Hull, who went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI.
Game two saw the Cats’ bats come to life, as they scored in all but the 4th inning and collected a 9-1 victory. Bobcat Wyatt Saltarelli pitched 6 innings, giving up just 1 run on 5 hits and 1 walk. Senior Jason Myer closed out the final inning, collecting 2 strikeouts. The Bobcats struck Yellowjacket pitchers for 9 runs on 14 hits and 3 walks, while striking out only once. Leading the Cats at the plate were: J. D Payne (3-for-3, 1 run, 2 RBI) and Cody Hull (3-for-4, 2 runs, 1 RBI). Kole Kelley, Jacob Karlson, and Hunter Simmons added to the hit parade, as they all went 2-for-3, scoring 2 runs apiece.
The Bobcats (2-5) will continue their home stretch on Tuesday, as they face Evangel University in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
